Demand of the Course/Employment Opportunity

There is an urgent need to create manpower especially for the conservation and management of
marine biodiversity in Indian coastal states. In this regard, training on “Para-taxonomy (including
Peoples Biodiversity Register” is required to understand the status of marine species in the context of
their conservation as several species are unknowingly fast disappearing. This training will also
address endangered, commercially important, invasive and IUCN categorized species.

Moreover there is a growing demand for field and lab oriented technicians especially for the
identification and preservation of marine flora and fauna. Job opportunities are promising in this field
including aquaculture and tourism in addition to NGOs, research institution etc.
